I am Mary Elizabeth McKee (Beth). Since earning a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work, I have spent 15 years in private practice, plus five years in a psychiatric hospital setting and county mental health clinic covering everything from substance abuse to family counseling.
I believe that we have the solutions to our problems within us. My job requires building the rapport with people that enables us to find the change in their lives they are seeking. Sometimes that change is concrete, and other times it involves re-focusing our perception to arrive at acceptance. My greatest reward is to succeed in helping someone take life's lemons to make some good lemonade.
I work full time at the Caroline County Mental Health Clinic on the adult team. I co-lead a weekly group at the Caroline Counseling Center for those challenged by addiction and mental health issues. I serve as Bereavement Counselor for the Caroline Hospice Foundation. I have a Certificate in Trauma Treatment from the University of Maryland.
My primary interests are working with trauma, grief, relationships, those dealing with mood disorders and anxiety, and those negotiating their own journeys through a world that can be frustrating and challenging. I work with individuals, couples, families and groups. On a personal note, I have been married for 23 years, and am the mother of a 15 year old son and 13 year old triplets (two girls and one boy.)
