Margaret has over 15 years experience in the non-profit field, having worked for the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, Evergreen Cove and currently, for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. As the Grassroots Coordinator for CBF's Heart of the Chesapeake project (www.cbf.org/hotc), based in Salisbury, Margaret builds community relationships with enthusiasm, tireless effort and dedication. She has changed the scope of CBF's involvement on the Eastern Shore by starting an intensive volunteer training program, called VoiCes, managing Wicomico Creekwatchers, representing CBF at fairs and festivals across the Eastern Shore, advocating for legislation that will help the Bay, cultivating relationships with the public, and most recently, using her skills in CBF's efforts to oppose the Blackwater Resort Community in Cambridge, MD. She serves on the board of the Nanticoke Watershed Alliance and was finalist for Taste of the Bay's Community Activist of the year in 2007.
Margaret is passionate about the outdoors and takes every opportunity to be outside whether in a kayak, on a walk, or on a bike, and usually has her 7 year old son, Nat, in tow. Her work on behalf of the Bay is an extension of her passion.
She says Evergreen Cove has always been near and dear to her heart after having served as Program Director for over 5 years. She is happy to be invited to join the Board and wouldn't miss this opportunity to share EC's magic with others.
